Jim Walsh: Owner/Operator Jim Walsh was fortunate to start in the ‘green industry” in 1976 with Warren’s Turf Nursery in Palos Hills, IL.
Little did he know at the time that Warren’s was the largest and best known sod grower in the country. “I was so fortunate for the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people at WTN including Walt Pemrick, Ben Warren and so many others.”
Ben and Bob Warren sold the business about 1982 and in 1984 WTN moved out of the Chicago area. In the fall of 1984, Jim completed his first side job at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights for Coach Dave Mattio.
Currently, Sportsfields Inc. still works for Coach Matttio at Marian High School. Since 1984 we have been renovating and building athletic fields, as well as developing superior products for sports field maintenance in the Chicago area.
Jim has been married to the president of Sportsfields, Inc., Peggy, since 1977. Together they have built a family business that now includes our son Jim. All of our employees have been like family as well and most have worked with us for over 15 years. Sportsfields, Inc. has been so fortunate to have so many faithful and loyal customers in the Chicago area since 1984.
